061. | Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette

Lorac Cosmetics had a Labor Day Sale two weekends ago, and I could not resist picking up two eyeshadow palettes. Lorac makes some of my favorite eyeshadow formulas and I am always about a sale. The first palette I picked up is one I have been lusting after for months, the Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette. Not only is this palette absolutely beautiful, the shadows are high quality and perform remarkably. Keep reading for photos and swatches.

The Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette contains six shimmer and four matte shadows. Lorac eyeshadows are well known in the beauty community for being of superb quality and this palette is no exception. Each shade is buttery and soft to the touch. Because of this, the shadows can get a little dusty in the pan. This is the only concrete drawback of this palette - the packaging can get a little messy. As long as the excess product is tapped off of the brush, the shadows won't have any fallout on the eyes.

Extremely pigmented, the shadows in this palette pack a punch. The color seen in the pan is the color that appears when the shadows are applied. The shimmer shades are vibrant and reflective, and the matte shades are deep and rich. A final great thing about the shadows in the Unzipped Palette is how blendable they are. The product is so smooth and finely milled, that it practically blends itself. This makes the Unzipped shadows very easy to work with - great for beginners and makeup pros alike!

Unzipped is a light-medium neutral palette with strong rose undertones. It is overwhelmingly full of pink, mauve, and burgundy. These colors work on everyone, but look especially beautiful on brown and green eyes. To subdue the rose and pink tones, use neutral brown shades in the crease. This will make the overall eye look seem more "nude" and less "pink."

Top row, from left: Undercover, Unbelievable, Unattainable, Unconditional, Unbridled.

Bottom row, from left: Undiscovered, Unreal, Uncensored, Unspoken, Untamed.

Unzipped comes with a sample size of Lorac's Behind the Scenes Eyeshadow Primer. Even though this is sample sized, it will last ages. I received one of these with an order about six months ago and it is still going strong. Behind the Scenes is my favorite eye primer on the market (along with the NARS Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base). I like this because it is very thin and applies evenly across the lid. And, of course, it makes shadows last all day long.

The Unzipped Palette is packaged in a glossy, pale yellow cardboard compact, which opens and closes magnetically. It contains a decent sized mirror. The shadows come in large pans (0.39 oz. of product total), so not much space is wasted. The packaging is nice and functional. It's not my absolute favorite, but it's cute and it gets the job done.

Overall, I highly recommend the Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette. The formulation of the shadows is incredible, and the shade range is stunning, yet still practical and wearable. The palette retails for $42 and can be purchased at Nordstrom.

  1. This palette is so gorgeous, wow! I'm tempted to get it but I have so many similar shades already...I almost can't justify it, haha. Maybe I'll get another Lorac palette instead.

  2. Ooo, that is a lovely palette. Do you think they are better than Urban Decay's Naked palettes?

    1. The shimmer shades are very similar quality to the UD shimmery shades. I think the Lorac matte shades are much better than UD. Hope this helps! xx
